I did a webinar for the NIHD (Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design).
The focus of the webinar was preparing for dangerous situations in the workplace. We covered:
- Architectural design to protect staff from angry, harmful patients, visitors, or other staff members
- Drills and practice so that staff knows where to shelter and how to protect themselves
- Designing for safety
- Understanding where the risks are and how to mitigate
- Preparing staff so they know how to react to a variety of situations
- Importance of inter-departmental cooperation
- Working with local, state, and Federal law enforcement
